Our Story

MADU GANGA FOUNDATION  (registered under The Companies Act No 7 of 2007 with the registration No. GL 00266795) is a community and environment-based non-profit organization that has been operating since 2020. This organization seeks to protect Madu River and facilitate, assist and promote the improvement of the innate capacities and strengths of the Madoowa rural island communities for the nation’s prosperity while protecting, conserving, and restoring the natural environment and biodiversity of these sensitive ecological areas. Madu Ganga Foundation operates its development programs through economically viable, culturally feasible initiatives and ecologically sustainable development activities towards capacity building of disadvantaged Madoowa rural island communities to identify and address their own development needs. Based primarily around the Madu Ganga area, the foundation directs its attention towards contributing to the fight against Climate Change. As per Goal 13: Climate Action of the UN 2030 Agenda, the foundation endeavors to integrate climate change measures into its initiatives, strengthen resilience, raise awareness and improve education relating to climate change and climate change mitigation. One such initiative undertaken by the Madu Ganga Foundation in an effort to combat climate change is the extensive planting of mangroves. This plant contributes immensely to the capture of atmospheric carbon. Madu Ganga Foundation works towards effectively protecting, managing, and conserving Madu Ganga heritage and the rich biological diversity for the benefit and appreciation of all people in Madu river islands. Madu river protection programs are guided by the values of volunteerism, love for environmental conservation, pro-action for self-betterment, accountability, transparency, and empowerment. Madu Ganga Foundation is also heavily focused on future socio-economic and ecological topics such as poverty; food security; health of the community; small business development in the island communities; employment generation; ecological restoration; education, protection, conservation, and restoration ....
